Laar Campus at Badin

The University of Sindh, the second oldest University of the country was established at Karachi under Sindh University Act1947, published in the Sindh Government Gazette in April 1947. Being one of the oldest and biggest university of the country, its responsibilities have remained with the same proportion. Establishment of colleges in every Taluka headquarter was the visionary program approved by Prime Minister Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto for providing education to everyone at their door steps and his daughter Shaheed Benazir Bhutto proceeded further and emphasized on equal education for male and female.

Following the visionary approach of the great leaders, present government assigned maximum tasks to University of Sindh to start new campuses in various districts of Sindh province. Realizing the dire need to provide access to higher education to people living in far flung areas with mediocre infrastructural facilities, such as in Laar region, the University of Sindh established Laar College at Badin (S.U.L.C) as a constituent college of the University of Sindh in 2007.

The college has been re-designated as Laar Campus at Badin in 2010.The rationale behind this establishment was to provide higher education facilities to the inhabitants, particularly female students of Laar region consistent with the education benchmarks prevailing the competitive higher education industry in the global arena. The Chief Minister of Sindh has allotted 93- acres of land for establishment of Sindh University Laar Campus at Badin free of cost in 2010. The plans are underway to construct the campus buildings and in this respect Government of Sindh has approved urgent need based PC-I during fiscal year 2013-2014.
