The Vice Chancellor Message

Dear Faculty, Officers, Staff and Students,

It is with profound gratitude and a strong sense of responsibility that I have assumed as Vice Chancellor, University of Sindh, Jamshoro. It is both a privilege and an honor to lead this historic and prestigious institution — one that has stood as a symbol of learning, progress, and enlightenment in Sindh for generations. The University of Sindh has produced luminaries in every walk of life and continues to serve as a place of knowledge and culture in Sindh and Pakistan.

We all recognize that universities exist for their students, gain distinction through their teachers, earn pride from the success of their graduates, and achieve excellence through the quality of the research they produce. We will continue to build on this legacy by strengthening all these key pillars — students, faculty, graduates, and research, with renewed dedication and purpose.

I am humbled to follow in the footsteps of all the distinguished predecessors like Allama I.I. Kazi, Mr. Hassnally A. Rahman and Dr. Nabi Bux Baloch, and determined to build upon their legacy.

I assure you of my full commitment and support to academic excellence, institutional transparency, and inclusive governance. We will create and strengthen an environment and culture where creativity, inquiry, and innovation are actively encouraged; where faculty are empowered to pursue impactful research and pedagogy; where administrative and other staff are supported and recognized for their significant contributions; and where students are nurtured to become not just graduates, but responsible, thoughtful citizens, professionals and future leaders. I strongly believe that the progress of a university is best achieved through collective wisdom and shared aspirations.

I recognize the unique and vital role each segment of our university community plays in shaping the direction of this institution. Whether you are a teacher shaping young minds, a researcher pushing the frontiers of knowledge, a staff member ensuring smooth day-to-day operations, or a student navigating your academic journey — your work and role matter deeply.

I am committed to have an open-door policy and accessible system where everyone feels heard and valued. We will work together to identify our strengths, address our challenges, and avail ourselves of new opportunities for growth.

In the spirit of improved decision-making, we will soon be launching an online portal and a suggestion box, enabling faculty, staff, and students to share their feedback, and grievances, if any, directly with the Vice Chancellor’s Office. This platform will serve as a channel for constructive communication and collective problem-solving. It will also reflect our core values of transparency, responsiveness, and institutional accountability — ensuring that every member of the university has a say in shaping its future.

We all know that universities do not exist in isolation — they are part of the broader social, industrial and intellectual fabric. Strengthening our engagement with society including Alumni and industries will help us stay grounded in real-world needs while reinforcing the relevance and impact of our teaching and research.

I invite each one of you to join hands in creating an environment where curiosity is celebrated, merit is upheld, and opportunities are accessible to all. Let us work with unity, passion, and integrity to advance the standing of the University of Sindh, not only within Pakistan but also as a global center of excellence, diversity, and innovation.

Last but not the least, I thank Prof. Dr Khalil-ur-Rehman Khoumbati, who led the University of Sindh before me, and has handed the charge of the Vice Chancellor to me, today, October 6, 2025, and every one of you for your warm welcome and support.

With best wishes and high expectations,

Prof. Dr. Fateh Muhammad Marri
