The Network Administrator is responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing the campus network infrastructure, ensuring that all network systems function efficiently and securely. Below is a breakdown of the essential skills and experience required for this role:
Qualifications:
- First Class or a minimum 3.0 CGPA in a 4-Year BS in IT, Telecom, Electronics, Computer Science, or a relevant degree.
Required Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience in managing campus networks.
Key Skills for a Network Administrator:

Advanced Networking Knowledge:
- In-depth understanding of network protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SNMP, FTP, and HTTP/S.
- Proficiency in managing LAN, WAN, VLAN, Inter-VLAN Routing, VPN, and wireless networks.
- Experience in configuring, deploying, and maintaining networking equipment, including Cisco routers, L2/L3 switches, Nexus 9K, Cisco ASA firewalls, load balancers, PFSense, and MikroTik.
- Ability to troubleshoot hardware issues and perform network upgrades.
- Operating Systems & Servers:
- Expertise in administering network systems across various platforms, including Windows Server, Linux/Unix, and macOS.
- Experience in setting up and managing Active Directory (AD), DNS servers, and file servers.
- Network Security:
- Strong understanding of network security principles, with experience in firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, antivirus software, and network access controls (NAC).
- Familiarity with tools for detecting and mitigating cybersecurity threats such as DDoS attacks, phishing, and malware.
- Monitoring and Troubleshooting:
- Proficient in using network monitoring and diagnostic tools like Wireshark, SolarWinds, Nagios, and MRTG/PRTG/CACTI to ensure network performance and security.
- Skilled in identifying and resolving network bottlenecks, slowdowns, and outages.
- Virtualization:
- Experience with virtualized network environments such as VMware.
- Disaster Recovery and Backup Solutions:
- Experience in implementing and managing disaster recovery (DR) plans, including network redundancy, failover, and backup strategies.
- Network Design and Implementation:
- Ability to design and implement scalable, secure, and high-performance network solutions.
- Experience in capacity planning to ensure networks can accommodate growth without performance degradation.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Excellent documentation skills to maintain records of network configurations, system logs, and changes made to the infrastructure.
- Ability to generate reports on network performance, downtime, and security incidents.
- Certifications (optional):
- Cisco CCNA certification is preferred.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong communication skills for interaction with management, IT teams, and non-technical employees.
- Effective problem-solving skills to quickly resolve critical network issues under pressure.
