DEPARTMENT OF MEDIA & COMMUNICATION STUDIES

The Department of Media & Communication Studies at the University of Sindh, Jamshoro educates students who strive to bring a positive change in media and journalism industry in Pakistan. We are engaged in training and educating our undergraduate and postgraduate students, the production and study of cultural, political, and material practices of meaning-making. In pursuing our goals, we examine contexts of media theories, production and research. We collaborate with other government and non-governmental organizations on regular basis to keep our students abreast of recent developments in the country. We involve our students at both, undergraduate and graduate levels to inform them through practical knowledge and scholarly criticism.

In short, we always struggle to become part of global community and change in media research and theory. Our research and teaching, work in community outreach attends to structures of power and hegemony. Moreover, we examine the forms of persuasion, protest, silence, political trust and imagination needed to transform such power structures.
