Mission Statement of Centre for Physical Education, Health & Sports Sciences

The mission of Centre for Physical Education, Health & Sports Science is to provide a positive experience in a variety of Lifetime? health & fitness activities and Leisure, recreational activities, focusing on the establishment of a healthy lifestyle of communities basis’s that includes proven concepts of wellness and fitness. We present activities that result in improved muscular strengths coordination, flexibility, and endurance and overall complete health and fitness.

Subjects of PEHSS develop all students to grow their character, self-reliance and self-discipline. We help students to improve their self-image and good health to reach a higher level of healthy lifestyle and Wellness State program objectives. Program educational objectives are intended to be statements that describe the expected accomplishments of graduates during the first several years following graduation from the program.

BS-PEHSS in Physical Education Health & Sports Science Programs:

To build concrete concepts of the subject through high quality class teaching, laboratory work and small-scale research projects and work, to help students. Demonstrate knowledge of rules, strategies and appropriate behaviors for selected physical activities and sports which include coaching, athletic training / sports medicine, intramurals and health education. They will be able to identify the benefits, costs and obligations associated with regular participation in physical activity as well as recognize the risk and safety factors associated with participation. They will understand that wellness involves more than being physically fit and will understand that physical activity provides an opportunity for enjoyment, self-expression and communication and it can lead to multi-cultural and international understanding\\'

Program Educational Objectives:

The subject "Physical Education, Health & Sports Science has a broader perspective of health of nation. Students are to acquire increased knowledge of how their own body functions and how healthy food habits, regular physical activities, and outdoor life can improve their physical and mental well-being. Through their own practice and experiences, students are to develop the desire and will to partake in physical activities and sports program during academics.

* The course is to lead to students finding different ways of conducting individual physical Fitness training, developing and strengthening their health & Fitness both whilst at school, college and later studies and professional working life.
* Thus, the educational aims of students are becoming more conscious of personal health and environment, and having a greater opportunity to participate actively in physical education and sports with questions concerning health, at work and society as a whole.
* To enable the graduate to apply knowledge gained in the degree program effectively and efficiently.
* To step into Research and Development (R& D) effectively.
* To pursue higher studies in any international University of high repute.

Main elements of the strategic plan to achieve program mission and objectives:

* Curriculum design: Core subjects, Elective subjects. A wide variety of elective subjects are offered which brings diversity in the program. It also includes provision of areas of specialization.
* Concept building promotive through extensive practical/laboratory work, applying theoretical knowledge and application concern subjects.
* Small-scale practical projects compatible with contemporary technological advancements throughout the degree program, and one practical Project in the final semester; which may become basis for winning a good job:
* Compulsory summer internships to give hands-on experience to students. Internships are arranged by the University.
* Co-curricular activities like academic clubs, participating in national and international competitions and exhibitions

Program outcomes measurement

  • Students will be prepared to educate people of all ages and abilities of the importance of lifelong fitness and wellness.
  • Students will know/understand how sociological and psychological factors influence human movement.
  • Apply appropriate foundational behaviors of professional practice of leadership including: the primacy of the patient, teamed approach to practice, legal practice, ethical practice, cultural competence, professionalism, and advancing the body of knowledge in athletic training.
  • Think critically about the practices involved in athletic training, including prevention, acute care, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries and illnesses.
  • Students will know how human movement is generated and how to effect change in human movement.
  • Students, in either teaching or supervisory roles, will be able to evaluate and give appropriate feedback on physical performance, i.e., sports skill, fitness plans, fitness rehabilitation protocols.
  • Work cooperatively with the athletic training staff, team physicians, clinical supervisors, and other various community members to promote healthy active lifestyles.
  • Students shall have an ability to conduct physical Education experiments to study different methods of conducting sports including various performance evaluation properties of materials and skills and techniques of different sports events, as well as to use laboratory instruments and computers to analyze and interpret data.
  • Students shall have an ability to work effectively in teams including multi-disciplinary teams to solve physical education problems relevant to their field.
  • Understand how to earn and retain the respect of the student-athletes, coaches, and other entities involved with providing healthcare and support to the student-athlete (clientele).
  • Have a sound knowledge of the prevention, evaluation, immediate care, and rehabilitation procedures for sports injuries & illnesses.
