ABOUT
Department of Geography
The Department of Geography was established at the Elsa Kazi Campus, Hyderabad,
in 1955, with Prof. M. M. Memon as its first Chairman. It was shifted to its
own building at the Allama I. I. Kazi Campus, Jamshoro, in 1970.
The Department offers BS and MS/MPhil degree programs. Some of the special
courses offered in the Department are:
Climate Change and Atmospheric Science, Settlement Geography,
Regional Planning, Biogeography, Hydrogeography, Desert Morphology,
Environmental Geography, and
Geographical Information System (GIS).
Recently, a new practical course on Soil and Water Analysis
has been introduced. The Department has a full-fledged
Cartographic Section. Its seminar library contains more
than 4,500 books.
