Institute of Arts & Design

The Institute of Art & Design was established as Department of Fine Arts in 1970 at University of Sindh, Jamshoro with two year Bachelor program i.e BA(Pass) in Fine Arts. In 1985, the syllabus of MA (Pass) in Fine Arts was introduced for meeting the needs of job market at that time. In 2005 the Department of Fine Arts was upgraded as the Institute of Art & Design, offering Four-Year Degree Program such as Bachelor of Fine Arts, (Major in Painting, Sculpture, Ceramics, each), Bachelor of Design, (Bachelor of Communication Design), (Bachelor of Textile Design), Bachelor of Art History and One year Diploma in Music. The four year Bachelor and One year diploma program in Music is designed with emphasis on Studio and research disciplines to encourage students for developing their individual style and understanding of Art as well as Design. All selected students are enrolled in individual Bachelor Programs as above. Part–I of each Discipline is for studying the foundation courses. The Department of Musicology and Performing Arts, imparting the one year diploma course in the Musicology. After having completed four years Bachelor in any of the major area of studies, students may opt M. Phil leading to Ph.D in Art & Design, for further research and specialization in respective major field of studies.
