Department of Science And Technical Education
In 1951, the first teaching department, which was established in the University of Sindh, was the “Department of Education”. Thus it became the first and pioneer department in the field of education among all the universities practical in education was introduced. The status of the department was raised to “Institute of Education & Research” in 1962 to improve and expand the facilities for teachers, teacher education instructional programs and educational research. After recognizing the contributions made by the institute of education and research, University of Sindh raised the statues of the institute to Faculty of Education in 1978. Further considering the status of the faculty the level of the courses taught at various levels (Under-graduate and Post-graduate), increase in the enrolment in various levels and course, the special curriculum areas needing professional emphasis, strengthening the research program and further development of staff in various areas of education to meet the growing need of the nation, four departments with in the Faculty were recommended and established in 1987. The departments started functioning from 1st July 1987 which are as under: Department of Science & Technical Education Department of Psychological Testing Guidance & Research Department of Education & Curriculum Development Department of Education Administration & Instructional Technology In the Department of Science & Technical Education we have seven teaching staff members who are teaching Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Mathematics, General Science, General Mathematics, Home Economics special at B.Ed level as well as four subjects in Science Education and Technical Education each as a field of Specialization at M.Ed level.
