Before the establishment of Physiology as an independent Department, Physiology was a section of Zoology.  Later in 1974 it was started as a full- fledged department and shifted to its present premises. Presently there are 13 teaching staff members. It has well equipped labs and a seminar library having more than 2500 books catering to the needs of the students and the teachers alike.

It offers the B.S. (Physiol) and M.Sc. programs with the following special courses:  Molecular Biology, Clinical Endocrinology, Neuro- Physiology, Clincal Pharmacology, Clinical Haematology, Patho-Physiology and Reproductive Physiology . It also offers M.Phil. and Ph.D. programs.
