The
University of Sindh provides degree programming through the teaching Institutes/
Departments/Centers which are functioning under the Faculties of Arts,
Commerce & Business Administration, Islamic studies, Natural Sciences,
Education, Social Sciences & Pharmacy.
The curricula organization for all the Bachelors
& Masters degree program under various Faculties are listed, under
respective Faculties. Details of the courses are available with the
concerned department /course teachers. Details of Laboratory courses
(Practical/ Fieldwork in Natural & Social Sciences) are also available with
the course teacher concerned.
Academic Faculties of the University impart teaching leading to the
Bachelor (Honours) and Master and 4- yr. Bachelor degrees and provide
research guidance for the M.Phil and Ph.D. programs. The teaching and
research under the Faculties of Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Arts,
Education, Islamic Studies, Commerce & Business Administration and Pharmacy
is directly imparted by the University.
Each Faculty works under the Dean, appointed by the Chancellor for
a term of 3 years.
The University teaching
institutes/ centers and departments, offer programs leading to the award of
3- year Bachelor’s (Honours) degree in various general and basic disciplines
on Humanities side while 4- year Bachelor degree is offered under the
Faculty of Natural Sciences and in eleven disciplines under Social Sciences.
The degrees have been redesignated accordingly indicating discipline e.g for
Computer Science BC (CS) and Information Technology BS(IT), BS Economics
etc.
The Masters’ degree programs are of 1- year duration after 3-Yr.
Honours and of 2 -year duration after Bachelor (Pass) degrees. Students
passing 4-yr. Bachelor degree are taken directly for M.Phil/ MS. research.
The 2- year Bachelor’s (Pass) degree programs are conducted through
various affiliated Degree Colleges within the jurisdiction of the
University.
The teaching under the Faculty of Law is conducted through the
affiliated professional Law colleges and the LL.M. Classes are conducted in
the recently established Department of Law @ Elsa Kazi Campus,
Hyderabad.
Degree programs in the Evening shift introduced since 2001 include
Masters degrees in English, Computer Science and Information Technology-
related disciplines such as E-medicine, E-commerce and Multimedia
Technology.
Many teaching departments under various Faculties of the
University also offer 1 year Postgraduate Diploma as well as short term
Certificate programs. The Postgraduate Diploma may lead to 1-Yr. Master’s
degree in the relevant discipline.
Some of the degree colleges in private sector and affiliated to
the University, also offer 3-year, Hons. & Master’s programs.
