A 3 day, 10th International Symposium on Analytical and Environmental Chemistry organized by the National Center of Excellence in Analytical Chemistry, University of Sindh in collaboration with Higher Education Commission ( HEC) concluded on Wednesday.In its concluding session the national and international scholars in their recommendations have advised the people to avoid from the use of tobacco, chewing and cigarette which is cause in increase of risk of cancer in local commodity particularly mouth throat and lungs and use of these items should be avoided. The scholars also appealed that the Media should play their part to aware general public about adverse effects of tobacco chewing and cigarette smoking.
The recommendations were presented by Dr. Shahabuddin Memon, the host of the International symposium and Director of the National Center of Excellence in Analytical Chemistry. The concluding session was presided over by Dr. Abdul Rasool Abassi Dean Faculty of Natural Sciences , University of Sindh while Dr. Osman Yauvz Attaman scholar from Turkey was Chief Guest.
The scholars in their recommendations said that Technologies for trace level pollutant analysis may be used for water quality testing counterfeit drug and other consumable goods testing.
The said that increase risk of cancer in local commodity particularly mouth throat and lungs is due to use of tobacco chewing and cigarette smoking. Use of these items should be avoided. Media should play their part to aware general public about adverse effects of tobacco chewing and cigarette smoking.The scholars recommended that there is a need to distinguish irradiated foods from normal un-irradiated foods. Emphasizes my be given to spices / dairy and fruit industries to label their foods for irradiations used.
They recommended further that the use of aluminum in acidic beverages should be avoided as it is the cause of soluble aluminum for human intake which may causes renal Osteodystrophy, Parkinson and Alzheimer’s disease.The scholars also recommended that Water recycling and reuse technologies may be adopted to minimize adverse effects of water scarcity.The scholars urged from the government to take initiative to set standards for food safety and pharmaceutical drug quality in order to safe public from unauthentic supplies.
The scholars also urged that Healthy steps should be taken by the Government for promoting educations as general and particularly educations in Science & TechnologySpeaking on the occasion Dr. Abdul Rasool Abassi expressed thanks to the national and international scholars for attending and presentation of their valuable research work.
Scholar from Turkey Dr. Osman Attaman said that it is good news for him that more than 40 percent girls students are studying in the Chemistry in the University of Sindh. He said that the future is of the young scientists and they should be encouraged so that they participate and present research.
He said that now days the Universities in Turkey are holding regional level conferences and meetings of the scholars because the holding of such conferences in western countries is most expensive. He said that we are trying to hold conferences in regional level.
He said that science is for all and scientists should mix all the world. He said that we should explore our people, always complement them and added that science can only be improved with health criticism.
He also congratulated Vice Chancellor Dr. Nazir A.Mughal and Director of the Center for holding wonderful academic event.
Dr. Naeem Ahmed Leghari Director of the Nuclear Institute of Medicine and Radiothrophy lauded efforts of the centre for holding of good symposium. He also termed the symposium as bridge between scholars from Pakistan, Turkey, Iraq and Malaysia.
An scholars from Bahauddin Zakria University Multan Dr. Tarque M.Ansari said that this symposium was good opportunity for the scholars to share their scientific ideas. He also appreciated arrangements made by the center.
Dr. Erol Pehlivan an scholars from KoniaUniversity termed the symposium as bridge between Pakistan and Turkey for future.
He said that now days in turkey there is importance to science projects than publication of papers. He advised the young scholars to develop scientific projects on analytical and environmental chemistry.Scholars from Technical College Baghdad Dr. Ahmed Moosa said that education is every thing would converted world in small town.He said that every deficiency including on diseases , unemployment, poverty in world can be overcome through education.Dr. Amber Rehana Solangi from the NationalCenter of excellence, Dr. Naeem Ahmed Leghari Director Nuclear Institute of Medicine and Radiothropy ( NIMRA) Dr. Aijaz Bhatti from Agriculture University Faisalabad, Dr. Farooque Ahmed from SargodhaUniversity, Dr. Abass Shar from Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur, Dr. Tarque M.Ansari from Bahauddin Zakria University Multan and others expressed their views.
Before the concluding session, in working session Dr. Naeem Ahmed Leghari Director of Nuclear Institute of Medicine and Radiothropy while presenting his paper on Environmental factors and Cancer said that the main causes of the cancer disease are environmental and genetic. He said that use of tobacco, cigarettes are causes in increase of cancer. He said that cancer is not only health issue but it is also social and economic issue. He said that avoid from the use of tobacco and cigarette would save the health.
Dr.Leghari aid that now days breast cancer is main issue and 1 out of 9 women are suffering from breast cancer and added that the NIMRA is providing free screening test facility in rural areas to the women.
He said that treatment is available to the cancer patient is it is diagnosis at early level. He said that with right strategies 30 percent of cancer cases can be prevented. He said that cancer screening test help in detecting cancer. He emphasized that we should make efforts to create awareness in people about cancer which is chronic disease.
