The acting Vice Chancellor University of Sindh Dr. Parveen Shah convened a meeting to discuss law and order at the campus.

The  acting Vice Chancellor University of Sindh Dr. Parveen Shah convened a  meeting to discuss law and order at the campus on Wednesday.

Wing Commander, 52 wing Qasim Rangers Lt.Colnel Rab Nawaz and Major Sher Muhammad as well as Sindh University Security Staff headed by Director Campus Security  Ghulam Nabi Kaka and others were present in the meeting. The meeting discussed the law and order at the Sindh University Campus and also others measures for the improvement of law and order at the campus. The meeting decided that at  all six entry points   theSindhUniversitysecurity, Police and Rangers would be deployed on regular basis and also frequent checking of vehicles. The meeting also agreed to provide the training to the security staff of the University for the help of law and order at the Campus. It was also decided that the students would be advised to display their students cards at the checking places.

Institute of Plant Sciences, University of Sindh organized a lecture on Wheat Genetic Resources and Integrated Science” on Wednesday. Noted wheat scientist from National Agriculture Research Council (NARC) Islamabad Dr. Abdul Mujeeb Kazi was key speaker. The event was presided over by Dean Faculty of Natural Sciences Dr. Muhammad Tahir Rajput.
In his lecture Dr.  Abdul Mujeeb Kazi highlighted the importance of wheat breeding, origin of wheat as well as production of synthetic wheat and its dispersal. He is the pioneer of synthetic hexploid wheat production in world and  has produced 1400 synthetic lines  in wheat which revolutionized   the green revolution in world. Dr. Kazi proposed the line of  action for future research, provided guidelines to  young students and scientists. Dr. Muhammad Tahir Rajput said that wheat is an important crop worldwide and especially inPakistanthere is no survival without wheat. To combat the challenge of food shortage for growing population ofPakistan, Dr. Rajput said that it is necessary to develop more improved wheat verities.
Dr. Sher Muhammad Mangrio, Dr. Wazir Shaikh and other also expressed their views.

Acting Vice Chancellor University of Sindh Prof.Dr. Parveen Shah inauguration 6-day thesis exhibition of the final year students of the Institute of Art and Design.

Acting Vice Chancellor University of Sindh Prof.Dr. Parveen Shah has said that every human possesses a unique blend of tears   and cheers and thus always looks for a way to express these emotions and added that art is also popular way to communicate  emotions and feelings of the society.

She was speaking after inauguration of 6-day thesis exhibition of the final year students of theInstituteofArtand Design of the University on Wednesday. Dr. Parveen Shah appreciated tradition of thesis exhibition and termed it a popular idea to promote art and design work of the final year students. She said that artists are the sensitive section of the society and added that they are custodians of the virtuous   values and they later express soul touching forms of beauty which dazzle, delight stimulate and instruct those who encounter them with the eyes. Artists snap-open our imagination and  stir  us to pause, to think to feel  Dr. Parveen Shah said and added that the artists enable us to see those truths which we would not  have known otherwise. Dr. Shah further said that art alone has the power to motivate, inspire to dream, to explore, to seek and to achieve and added that it is art that unlocks creative impulses. Dr. Shah appreciated that more number of girls students are enrolled and participated through their art work in exhibition and added that women are more sentimentally suited to finer pursuit like art and music.

Dr. Shah appreciated designs developed by the students and emphasized that the institute should coordinate with the industry for the marketing of the designs on commercial basis.  53 male and female students of fine art, Textile design and communication design discipline of theInstituteofArtand Design displayed their work in the exhition.
The students of the Art and design display their thesis projects on various aspects of life. The student of the communication design Ms Humera developed a impressing project on recent floods and rains in various districts of Sindh. The projects reflects the damages of the property and its impact of the human life.

An a student Mansoor developed his project on Civic sense to give realization to the society to take care of the society  for making the net and clean to the surroundings. A students of textile design, Miss Seap developed a project for beautification of house with various designs. She has also developed various designs which can be helpful to the textile industry.

Applications are invited for a limited funding (2 to 3 months) to work on the research Project “Water Quality Assesment of Manchar Lake”, Sponsored by WWF Pakistan. The Candidates should have BS/M.Sc in Chemistry with first division. The selected candidate will be allowed Rs. 12000/-pm. He may also be registered for the degree of M.Phil on the Project.

Candidates who appeared in the written test and secured 20 or above 20 marks are advised to appear for Interview on Monday dated 26-03-2012 at time 12:00 noon in the office of the Dean, Faculty of Natural Science.

The Saturday will be working day from next week effecting on Monday 19th March, 2012.

The acting Vice Chancellor University of Sindh Dr. Parveen Shah presiding a meeting for improvement of law and order and to review the security arrangements taken for security at the campus.

The acting Vice Chancellor University of Sindh Dr. Parveen Shah has said that every stakeholder of the University has to cooperate for bringing peace at campus and for smooth running of the academic activities in the interest of the University and youth.

She was speaking during a meeting convenened on Monday for the improvement of law and order and to review the security arrangements taken for security at the campus.

The meeting was attended by Pro Vice Chancellors of the campuses, Deans of the Faculties, Registrar, Provosts of Boys and Girls Hostels, Director Security while office bearers of SUTA were also invited in the meeting but they refused  to attend the meeting.

The acting Vice Chancellor briefed the meeting regarding security measures at the campus and said that the main purpose of the convening of the meeting for the improvement of law and order aiming to sought suggestions for more betterment of the campus security. She further informed that office bearers of SUTA were also invited in this meeting but they refused and said that they will hold meeting with the acting Vice Chancellor only.

In early morning Dr. Shah informed that she also rounded the campus and inspected the security measures at the teaching institutes and departments at the campus. She informed that security system has been improved due to vigilant security arrangements including checking of vehicles at the entrances and allowing vehicles of University teachers, employees and private vehicles from separate routes.

The meeting discussed the security arrangements on short term and long term perspective to be taken by the University administration.

The meeting in terms of fool proof security decided strict measures for parking of private vehicles at parking area by maintaining record of private and vehicles of visitors, display of students cards by the university students and adoption of checking system at the campus.

The meeting also decided that after the academic activities in every evening various roads including Vice Chancellor road, Station road from Microbiology department and entry and exist from different routes will be closed for general public.

The meeting also constituted a five members committee headed by Mr. Agha Riaz Hassan Professor Incharge Transport to   prepare parking plan for the private vehicles.

Meanwhile academic activities in various teaching institutes and departments of the University continued on Monday. The acting Vice Chancellor Dr. Parveen Shah inspected the academic activities at the campus in early morning on Monday.

The Controller of Examinations University of Sindh has announced result of college side M.A (Previous) Post Graduate classes under annual examination of 2010 here on Friday.  The University has declared  7 candidates pass in M.A previous English, 29 candidates in M.A previous Economics, 8 candidates in M.A previous Political Science, 5 candidates in M.A previous Muslim History, 4 candidates in M.A previous International Relations and 13 candidates in M.A previous Urdu.
The University has also declared the result of M.A Final Post Graduate classes under annual examination of 2010. According to announcement   6 candidates have secured first class while 45 candidates second class and 9 candidates in third class.
