Thursday, December 22nd, 2011Consul General of Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia Karachi Mr. Rossalis R. Adenan has said that Indonesian Government is providing scholarships for higher studies in Indonesian Language studies, Social Sciences and International Relations. He was talking with Pro Vice Chancellor University of Sindh Prof. Dr. Parveen Shah during his visit to University of Sindh here on Wednesday. The Counsel General accompanied to Counsel Mewrita Yenni discussed the
academic and research matters with the University academicians which was also attended by the Registrar Akhtar Ahmed Memon, Director Innovation, Research and Commercialization Dr. Parvez Ahmed Pathan. The Indonesian Consul General said that award of scholarships for
higher studies to Indonesia is a very important opportunity to Lecturers of the University of Sindh and added that number of scholarships will be 100. He said that political relations between Government of Pakistan and Government of Republic Indonesia are excellent and added that we have also initiated people to people contact. The Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Parveen Shah on this occasion briefed the guest about the academic and research activities in the University and Area Study Center Fareast and South East Asia. Dr. Shah informed that the University of Sindh is oldest University of Pakistan established in 1947 and presently 23000 students are studying in 54 disciplines at Bachelors and Masters Degree program. She informed that the University is offering M.Phil degree program in different disciplines through course work under criteria set by HEC.
Dr. Shah informed that the University of Sindh is holding one day International Seminar on Terrorism in January,20 which will be attended by local and outside scholars. Dr. Parvez Pathan who is secretary of the seminar also briefed the Consul General about details of the International Seminar. He informed that we have received a very encouraging response from the National
and International Scholars. The Counsel General while taking interest in the seminar called it a
very important seminar and offered full cooperation. The Consul General also attended a briefing at the area study center Fareast and Southeast Asia. Mr. Ghulam Murtaza Khoso Faculty member of the center gave briefing about the academic activities of the center. Mr. Khoso briefed about the research and academic activities and facilities available for scholars towards, research library, digital library, and computer laboratories and informed that setup of the video conferencing is in process. The Indonesian envoy also visited Institute of Sindhology. The envoy visited the Sindhology Museum, galleries of the prominent personalities, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Gallery and Library. The Director Institute of Sindhology Mr. Muhammad Qasim Maka briefed the delegation about the working of Sindhology. In his comments on visitors Book of Sindhology the Indonesian Consul General while appreciating valuable services of Sindhology said that Institute of Sindhology is playing pivotal role in maintaining the originality of Sindh and is up-to-date a source for research and other specific studies.
