The Institute of Modern Sciences and Arts Hyderabad (IMSA) affiliated with the University of Sindh has conferred degrees of MBA, BBA and BCIT to 328 candidates in its 6th Convocation held on Thursday. The convocation was arranged at Sindh University’s Old Campus Hyderabad which was attended by a large number scholars educationists, recipients of degrees and their parents. The Provincial Senior Minister for Education and Literacy Pir Mazharul Haq Shahnawaz who is also pro Chancellor of the Universities in province of Sindh was Chief Guest while Vice Chancellor University of Sindh Prof.Dr.Nazir A.Mughal presided over the convocation. The Vice Chancellor on this occasion declared the convocation open in starting and conferred the degrees upon the candidates while the Minister for education decorated with medals to top scorer students in MBA and BBA of different batches. Out of 328 candidates 129 candidates have received degrees of MBA, 89 of BBA and 10 candidates of BCIT. 6 medals were awarded to candidates of MBA and 6 medals to BBA candidates on their outstanding performance. Speaking on this occasion the Provincial Minister said that youth should prove in practical life with abilities, knowledge and skills in this competitive world and added that they must understand that without knowledge they will not be able achieve the goals in the life. He lauded efforts made by IMSA an institute in private sector and said that IMSA has earned name by providing service to the society. He said that with completion of education and with conformation of degrees the candidates have achieved the first important steps in the life. The parents as well as teachers have done their duty Pir Mazharul Haq said adding that now graduates have to perform their duty by serving the Nation with honesty, dedication. He said that the youth staying in cities are very lucky they are getting good education with lot of facilities therefore they must prove their worth with their hardworking and abilities. Highlighting great services of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, the Provincial Minister said that she was great visionary leader and added that she in 1993 directed him to open window for the education in private sector for catering the needs of the modern age of the society. He said that during his tenure of premiership charter was granted to three private sector Universities. He said that their government is committed to fulfill the five E’s as identified by Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto which includes Employment, Education, Energy, Environment and Equality. The Minister also advised the candidates to work hard and always remember their parents at every stage as they dedicated all efforts for good education of their children. The Vice Chancellor University of Sindh Prof.Dr.Nazir A.Mughal speaking on this occasion said that Convocation is a very important part of students life. Congratulating graduating recipients, the Vice Chancellor also congratulated to parents of the recipients and said that my blessings are with parents who saved every penny for education of their children. Dr.Mughal while appreciating IMSA for graduating more than 3000 students during one decade and for organizing convocation on regular basis. He said that now after completion of degree the responsibilities lies upon the graduates to dedicate their life for the service of the nation and to
work with honesty and dedication to their work. You are future of Pakistan and Pakistan depends on youth Dr.Mughal said while addressing to graduates and added that you must adopt innovative approach for development of the Country. He said that the University of Sindh has mobilized its resources to maintain the standard of education through research and added that the University is proud that with support of Higher Education Commission rules and regulation for M.Phil and Ph.D has been adopted for the implementation of it. I have launched academic reforms with help of faculty members and employees of the University through executive council Dr.Mughal said and added that executive council has played role as think tank. The University in now days can not depends on only one leadership Dr.Mughal said and pointed out that purpose of setup of executive council was to seek help and suggestions from every member and that they should also feel a part of the University. Dr.Mughal said that from January,2011, semester system would be implemented with its original sprit in the University and added that same system would also be extended in the affiliated colleges for the quality of education. Dr.Mughal pointed out that in 1997 during his first tenure of Vice Chancellorship, he had made efforts to develop rules and regulations for implementation of semester system but after his departure it was not implemented with its original spirit. Dr.Mughal said that he is going to streamline the semester system in year 2011 and added that semester system is an honor system for teachers as well as for the students. He said that under academic reforms the admission and examination system is also streamlined and days for conduct of semester examinations has also been decreased from the months. Dr.Mughal said that under the academic reforms which already finalized by the Executive Council and approved by the Syndicate , the copy of academic programs, outline of course will be handed over to students in class on first day of commencement of session while teachers would dedicate 10 hours in a week for guidance their students apart from four courses teaching. The Vice Chancellor said that efforts have been made to develop academic linkages with the Universities abroad and said that during his visit to China he has signed academic linage agreements with two Universities.
Dr.Mughal pointed out that he has made efforts for balancing the budget of the University for the first time in the history of the University In recognition of services rendered by Dr.Mughal in field of higher education and research, the IMSA awarded gold medal which was decorated
him by the Senior Minister of Education and Literacy. A certificate of appreciation was also awarded to the Vice Chancellor. Syed Shafiq Hyder Mousivi Chairman of IMSA speaking on the occasion highlighted academic programs for promotion of education and facilities provided by IMSA. Pro Vice Chancellor Dr.Rafia Ahmed Shaikh, Deans of the various Faculties of the University Dr.Anwar Ali Shah, Dr.Muhammad Tahir Rajput, Registrar Dr.Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro, Controller of Examinations Muhammad Nawaz Narejo, Director Affiliated Colleges Bashir Ahmed Shaikh and others also attended the convocation.
