Prof. Dr. Nazir A. Mughal, Vice Chancellor, University of Sindh presiding over the 177th meeting of Syndicate.

The Syndicate of the University of Sindh in its 177th meeting has approved estimated annual budget of Rs. 2423. 653 Million for year 2010-2011 with a deficit of Rs.525.369 Million in two day meeting held on Friday and Saturday.
The syndicate meeting which was presided over by Vice Chancellor of the University Professor Dr.Nazir A.Mughal which discussed several matters related to academic improvement, research and quality of education in the University. In connection with increase of the estimated budget for the year of 2010-2011 it was informed that due to increase in estimates was due to increase in pay and pension to employees, creation of posts for Mirpurkhas, Badin and Dadu campuses as well as increase in medical allowances to the employees and also purchase and fixation of recycling of water plant, however the federal government will be approached for special grant to met the expenses.

The syndicate meeting while approving in principal the estimated budget advised for revision of different items for cut in expenses. The syndicate has also approved revised budget for year of 2009-2010 of Rs.1364.895 Million with surplus of Rs.350.028 Million. The syncidtae appreciating offer has approved the establishment of Endowment Fund with amount of Rs.2 Crore at the Institute of Sindhology with help of Dawn Group of Newspapers for preservation and digitization of unique treasure of art and culture and  Books and manuscripts.

The meeting has also approved a Memorandum of Understanding ( MOU) between the Ministry of Population Welfare Government of Pakistan and University of Sindh. Under the MOU a Population Education Information Resource Center will be established in the University. The meeting has approved the establishment of Directorate of Distance Education under the Faculty of Education. The meeting while approving recommendations in connection with hardship cases for promotions of the faculty members it agreed to send recommendations to Governor Sindh/Chancellor for its final approval. The meeting decided to issue a warning to management of Sindh University Employees Cooperative Housing Society to take proper and legal measures for protection of residential land as leased by the University to society for allotting of residential plots and for  protection form illegal construction like construction of Plaza’s on the society Land. The meeting further decided to serve a notice in this connection to Society management with a warning for cancellation of leased land for which University reserved a legal right.
