The Director Postgraduates Studies University of Sindh has announced for information to all those candidates who have secured 50% or above score in pre entry test for admission to MS/M.Phil degree program to contact with Heads of their concerned Institutes and departments for the Interview. He further announced that interview of the successful candidates in M.Phil Islamic Culture will be conducted on Wednesday at 9.00 am.

The Senior Minister for Education Pir Mazharul Haq has called upon the Universities to introduce market oriented degree program for development to generate own recourses as well as to develop skills of youth. He was talking with journalists during his visit to inspect pre entry test conducted by the University of Sindh here on Sunday.
He said that today world has been facing economical crunch and it also affects our Country. The senior Minister pointed out that recent flood has badly hit to different parts of Sindh province. The Minister while answering a question about financial problem of the Universities said that Universities should work to generate their own resources. He said that time has come that the Universities should have to develop their resources for the managing the Universities as world Universities already practicing. He said that he has already pointed out that many Universities have their valuable land and they should initiate different projects and marketing of it and pointed out that the University of Sindh has already developed its petroleum service and working to setup of its own CNG station.
He said that Universities especially University of Sindh should focus on introducing vocational training program not only for resource generation but also for development of skills of youth. Talking with journalists the Vice Chancellor Dr.Nazir A.Mughal in connection with cut in budget said that University is facing a serious problem on cut in its 50% recurring budget. He said that even in cut in budget the University is striving hard to provide quality of education and added that meeting expenses University will cut its other expenses. He pointed out that University will be introducing a number of job oriented degree as well as certificate programs in evening time at the campus. He pointed out that 3-month, 6-month and one year certificate courses in technical and mechanical education will be introduced to produce skilled human resources.

The University of Sindh has conducted pre entry test for admissions to Masters, MS and M.Phil degree programs for academic session 2011 in a well discipline and in peaceful manner here on Sunday. The pre entry test was conducted at the Faculty of Arts Building at Allama I.I.Kazi Campus Jamshoro.
Total 3515 candidates, 2828 for Masters and 787 candidates appeared for test for admissions to MS and M.Phil. The University administration took a very strict security measures at the campus including main entrances. The senior faculty members of various departments performed duties in examination blocks while Deans of the Faculties, members of Syndicate and senior Professors were also present to inspect the arrangements on the occasion. The University administration facilitates candidates with providing facility of pick and drop and plied point buses from different routes of Hyderabad and Kotri. The University also facilated parents of candidates with setup of waiting room at the Zero point and Fatima Jinnah Girls Gymnasium. Special arrangements were made for parking of vehicles at the zero point where a large number traffic police helped people for parking of vehicles. Before starting of pre entry test the Vice Chancellor University of Sindh Professor Dr.Nazir A.Mughal through control room addressed the candidates. He welcoming candidates said that this is the world of competition where quality counts and added that objectives of test is to select candidates with potential for higher learning that would help in imparting quality education. Dr.Mughal said that he is happy to see that University of Sindh has been rigorously following this process of selecting candidate on basis of their merit potential judged by their performance at the test, since he had introduced it in 1996 during tenure of Vice Chancellor of the University. What is more satisfying is the observation that practically all public and private sector degree awarding institutions have adopted this practice for inducting freshman during last 10 years a practice that is common in all developed countries Dr.Mughal said. He expressed hope that successful candidates would pay attention on their education that they can vital role for nation development. The Provincial Minister for Education who is also Pro- Chancellor of the Universities in Province Pir Mazharul Haq who paid surprise visit, addressing candidates said that pre entry test is always helpful to meritours candidates.
He said that PPP Government always taken efforts to promote merit. He said that appointments of school teachers were made on merit basis through entry test process. He said that conduct of pre entry test in all over public and private sector institutes is continuous process of merit which was introduced by PPP governments. He stressed the need of attention on education by youth and said that bright youth will be helpful for society and nation. He accompanied to Vice Chancellor as well as Deans also inspected different examination blocks and checked the pre entry test arrangements. The Syndicate of the University of Sindh in its 177th meeting has approved estimated annual budget of Rs. 2423. 653 Million for year 2010-2011 with a deficit of Rs.525.369 Million in two day meeting held on Friday and Saturday.
The syndicate meeting which was presided over by Vice Chancellor of the University Professor Dr.Nazir A.Mughal which discussed several matters related to academic improvement, research and quality of education in the University. In connection with increase of the estimated budget for the year of 2010-2011 it was informed that due to increase in estimates was due to increase in pay and pension to employees, creation of posts for Mirpurkhas, Badin and Dadu campuses as well as increase in medical allowances to the employees and also purchase and fixation of recycling of water plant, however the federal government will be approached for special grant to met the expenses.
The syndicate meeting while approving in principal the estimated budget advised for revision of different items for cut in expenses. The syndicate has also approved revised budget for year of 2009-2010 of Rs.1364.895 Million with surplus of Rs.350.028 Million. The syncidtae appreciating offer has approved the establishment of Endowment Fund with amount of Rs.2 Crore at the Institute of Sindhology with help of Dawn Group of Newspapers for preservation and digitization of unique treasure of art and culture and Books and manuscripts.
The meeting has also approved a Memorandum of Understanding ( MOU) between the Ministry of Population Welfare Government of Pakistan and University of Sindh. Under the MOU a Population Education Information Resource Center will be established in the University. The meeting has approved the establishment of Directorate of Distance Education under the Faculty of Education. The meeting while approving recommendations in connection with hardship cases for promotions of the faculty members it agreed to send recommendations to Governor Sindh/Chancellor for its final approval. The meeting decided to issue a warning to management of Sindh University Employees Cooperative Housing Society to take proper and legal measures for protection of residential land as leased by the University to society for allotting of residential plots and for protection form illegal construction like construction of Plaza’s on the society Land. The meeting further decided to serve a notice in this connection to Society management with a warning for cancellation of leased land for which University reserved a legal right.

The University of Sindh has finalized all arrangements for conducting of pre entry test for admissions to Masters Degree program (Morning and Evening) and MS/M.Phil program for academic session 2011 on Monday. The University has been conducting pre entry test for admissions to Masters Degree program on October, 31.
The University has made sitting arrangements for pre entry test at various teaching institutes and departments located at Faculty of Arts Building, Jamshoro. The Vice Chancellor of the University Prof.Dr.Nazir A.Mughal has constituted various committees to supervise the arrangements for the pre entry test. A vigilance committee comprised to Deans of the Faculties, members of Syndicate headed by Vice Chancellor would monitor the pre entry test arrangements. The authorities have also formed transport committee, Hall management committee and other committees. Director Admissions University of Sindh has also announced for information to all those candidates who have submitted their admission forms through courier services are hereby advised to collect their Admit cards from Directorate of Admissions on any working day or from main entrance of the Faculty of Arts Building on Pre entry test day.
It is further announced that pre entry test for admissions to Masters Degree program (Morning and Evening) and MS/M.Phil program in the University and for MBA previous program at Sindh University Laar College Badin will be conducted on Sunday October, 31.The pre entry test for admissions to all disciplines for Bachelors degree program (Morning and Evening) in the University, Sindh University Laar College Badin and Sindh University Campus Mirpurkhas will be conducted on November,14.

The Controller of Examinations (Annual) University of Sindh has announced on Monday that submission of examination forms for combine examination of eligible regular and external candidates for B.A (Regular ands External), B.Sc, B.Com and B.Sc Home Economics pass Part-I and Part-II (Regular) and M.A Previous and Final (External) under annual examination 2010 has been fixed as October, 29. (Without late fees). It is further announced that after due date Rs. 5000/- will be charged as late fee with effect from November, 02 to November,10.

The academic convocation-2009 of University of Sindh is scheduled to be organized in first week of December, 2010 to confer degrees upon graduates and decorate with Gold and Silver Medals to its meritorious candidates. The interested candidates who have passed Graduation, Post Graduation, M.Phil and Ph.D examinations as regular as well as external up to year 2009 can apply to receive their degree as well as medals( if medalist). Last date for registration of eligible candidates has been fixed as November, 20, 2010.
Those candidates who have passed final examination as regular as well as external candidate from the University or its affiliated degree colleges can apply through an application on plain paper up-to November, 20. The top faculty, position holders in institutes and departments can apply for the medals. The scholars from USA as well as from China will also be participating in this convocation to witness the celebration of success of the University graduates. It is pointed out that University of Sindh under academic reforms introduced by Vice Chancellor Dr.Nazir A.Mughal will hold academic convocation twice in a year. This is first Convocation as part of academic reforms while an other convocation will be organized by June, 2011.
The Fatimid Foundation Hyderabad in collaboration with Bureau of STAGS University of Sindh organized Blood Donation Camp at the AllamaI.I.Kazi campus Jamshoro here on Tuesday. A large number male and female students and teachers visited the blood donation camp. Around 30 male and female students as well as teachers donated their blood. The Administrator of Fatimid Foundation Dr.Rab Nawaz Memon, Advisor of the Bureau of STAGS Prof.Muhammad Yousif Pardesi and others supervised the arrangements.

The Vice Chancellor University of Sindh Prof.Dr.Nazir A.Mughal has urged upon the students to join hands for upliftement of the University and should maintain discipline. He was addressing to a group of meritorious students of the University on Tuesday to recognize their services that rendered services for the community during recent flood in the province of Sindh. The gathering was organized by the Bureau of Students, Tutorial and Guidance Services (STAGS) which was also attended by Deans of the Faculties, Heads of various teaching institutes and departments. The Vice Chancellor appreciated students who worked for the welfare of flood affected people in different parts of the Province and said that students have set a great tradition for their junior colleagues. He said that youth is future of the Nation and urged upon them to serve the community when ever the found free time after their education and other educational activities. He said that discipline is first priority in education which always uplift the moral of the students as well as institutes. He said that he has dedicated one day of every week on Monday from 12.noon to 2.00pm for the meeting with students and advised the students to visit his office without any pre appointment. He said that students are a very important section of the University and also key part of the future development. He said that he always welcome to those students who come and share their ideas for the development of the University. Dr.Mughal said that for development of University or the betterment of educational environment the responsibility also lies on every one to dedicate efforts for making best the University. The Vice Chancellor also emphasized upon students to actively participate in co curricular activities. The Advisor Bureau of STAGS Prof.Muhammad Yousfi Pardesi speaking on this occasion highlighted activities of STAGS and advised the students to regularly participate in activities organized by Bureau of STAGS time to time. He said that Bureau of STAGS has plan to publish a colorful calendar of students co curricular activities to be organized in year 2011 and a copy of same in advance will be provided to every student for guidance and information. The Registrar of the University Dr.Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro, Provost Marui Girls Hostel Dr.Qamar Jahan, Director Students Affairs Prof.Bashir Ahmed Channer and others were also present in the gathering.
