16th Vice Chancellor Executive Council Meeting

Sindh University Flood Relief Committee (SUFRC) has been set up for help
of flood affectees of the Country specially Province of Sindh with joint efforts of teachers, students and employees. This was decided by meeting of 16th Vice Chancellor Executive Council which held under Chairmanship of Vice Chancellor Professor Dr.Nazir A.Mughal here on Tuesday.
The meeting was attended by Pro Vice Chancellor Sindh University Campus
Mirpurkhas Dr.Iqbal Ahmed Panhwar, Deans of the Faculties,    Senior Professor, Heads of the various teaching institutes, Registrar, Controller of Examination and Director Finance and Admissions. The meeting expressed a great sorrow on loss of human lives and their valuable property in a recent flood in the Country specially in the Province of Sindh. The meeting offered Fateha for those who lost their lives and expressed deep sympathy with their families. The Vice Chancellor of the University on this occasion sharing his views said that idea for set up of SUFRC is to provide help to flood affectees with collective efforts and welfare of flood affectees. He said that every teacher, every employee and every student of the University should realize its responsibility and help to the affectees. A Sindh University Flood Relief Committee headed by Prof.Dr.Qamar Jahan was constituted and authorizes it to start relief activities in different parts of the Country. The representatives from the faculty, employees and students have been included on the committee. The committee will provide sheds to affectees which reached in surroundings of the University from different parts of Sindh and would provide them clean drinking water, food and medicines.
The committee would also suggest measures to be taken by the University
which included relief camps in different parts of the Province with help
of employees and students.
The meeting also discussed issue of lower  employees who have created disturbance at the campus for their demands. The Vice Chancellor informed the meeting that he had constituted a five member committee and resolved 34 demands out of 35 on recommendation of the committee. He said that illegal sit in protest and lock of offices and classes is totally illegal and unethical which affected the peaceful environment at the campus. He further informed that the University due to shortage of funds and cut in budget is unable to pay enhanced salaries and medical allowance to employees however he has assurance them for payment as soon as funds would be received from the HEC.
The meeting also accorded approval of the catalogue for admissions to
session 2011 after viewing of its design. The meeting also discussed matter for generating of resources to meet its needs due to cut in funds. The University of Sindh has been reviewing various fees to increase registration fee for MS/M.Phil degree programs while the Controller of Examinations of the University would be preparing proposal to enhance fees of Pass, Marks and Degree Certificates fees. The proposal would be discussed in special meeting to be held on next Thursday.
