First M.Phil seminar on topic Sindhi Word Spell Checker by Zeeshan Bhatti, a lecturer of the Institute of Information and Communication Technology.
Thursday, July 29th, 2010A lecturer of the Institute of Information and Communication Technology (IICT) Zeeshan Bhatti is working on a research project for M.Phil degree program on Sindhi Word Spell Checker at IICT under the supervision of its Director Dr.Imdad Ismaili.
He would deliver his first M.Phil seminar on Thursday at the multi media center of the IICT which will be presided over by Dean Faculty of Natural Sciences Dr.Muhammad Tahir Rajput.
The Dean Faculty of Commerce and Business Administration University of Sindh Dr. Anwar Ali Shah has notified students to attend their classes regularly.
Thursday, July 29th, 2010The Dean Faculty of Commerce and Business Administration University of Sindh Dr. Anwar Ali Shah has notified on Wednesday for information to all concerned students that teaching in Institute of Business Administration in BBA and MMBA and teaching in Institute of Commerce in B.Com and M.Com has already commenced for morning and evening classes. The concerned students are hereby advised to attend their classes regularly.

Thursday, July 29th, 2010The Vice Chancellor University of Sindh Professor Dr.Nazir A.Mughal has called upon University employees to join hands for development of the University with unity by respecting each other instead of any rift with each other.
He was presiding over two meetings held separately with two groups of University employees one who claims them it as representatives of Sindh University Employees Welfare Association (SEWA) and an other of representatives of Peoples Bureau here on Tuesday.
The Vice Chancellor while expressing concern over on holding of day to day protests and baseless sit in protest against the University by employees, said that he has already ordered administration to resolve legal problems of employees without their demand.
He said that it is first time that large number employees of grade-16 were promoted in grade 17 and equally officers had been promoted which delayed since long time by present University management. The Vice Chancellor said that University employees should unite and play their role in University development by realizing it their moral and
social duty.
The Vice Chancellor while discussing demands of two groups of employees said that University has been facing financial cut in its budget but it is sincere to resolve problems of employees if any. Sit in protest by employees is not a legal way; the Vice Chancellor said adding that University employees are a social welfare forum to work for the welfare of the employees. He however announced the extension in contractual service of removed
employees and assured the representatives of the employees that their genuine problems would be solved with space of time. An other meeting with representatives of SEWA, the Vice Chancellor also assured them for every possibility for resolution of problems of employees and directed them to work as welfare forum of employees instead of an a
union. He said that University is taking care of every employee and it expects well performance on the side of workers.
He said that it is first time after long time that his management has balanced the University budget and cut on enhanced expenditure. The Vice Chancellor pointed out that we are facing lot of problems on cut of financial grant and trying to face the financial matters. He also directed the employees to work together by all employees by join
hands of the authority for betterment of the University and rift among employees not looks good.
The talks were also attended by Registrar Mr. Muhammad Hussain Shaikh, Dean Faculty of Arts Dr.Muhammad Qasim Bughio, Dr.Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro, Director Finance Mr.Mushtaq Memon and others.
University of Sindh has done its job of verification of degrees received from HEC within due date and dispatched verified degrees.
Thursday, July 29th, 2010The University of Sindh has denied unavailability of record of degrees as appeared in different newspapers and clarified that all records of degrees of the University are in safe custody.
In Press Release issued by the University on Tuesday contradicted reports and said that the University of Sindh has done its job of verification of degrees received from HEC within due date and dispatched verified degrees within deadline which proves the safety and availability of record of the degrees. The Controller of Examination University of Sindh Dr.K.D Pitafi has also notified on Tuesday (Copy attached) that University has received a total 129 degrees from Higher Education Commission and after verification the University has dispatched 125 verified degrees to HEC. According the details the University has received 108 degrees for verification from HEC on June, 30 and sent back 107 degrees after verification. The University has also received 13 degrees from HEC and 11 degrees were sent back after verification within due date.
It is further notified that the University has received again 8 degrees from HEC on July, 20 and 7 degrees were sent back after verification. It is further clarified that supplementary information forms (DSF) accompanying degrees shall soon be dispatched to HEC.

The President of Islamic Republic of Pakistan Mr.Asif Ali Zardari inaugurated Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Research Chair and performed the ground breaking of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Convention Centre at University of Sindh in a ceremony organized at Chief Minister House Karachi on Friday evening. The occasion was attended by Governor Sindh Dr.Ishratul Ebad Khan, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Speaker Sindh Assembly Mr. Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, Provincial Minister for Education Pir Mazharul Haq , other provincial Ministers, a number of University scholars, members provincial Assembly and faculty members.
Addressing the ceremony the President Mr.Asif Ali Zardari appreciated efforts taken by the University of Sindh for setup of Research Chair to pay tribute to Shaheed Benazir Bhutto. He said that with establishment of research Chair University will be enabling the scholars to do research on political Philosophy of Shaheed Benazair Bhutto and her struggle for the democracy in Pakistan and also students and faculty members with facility for their research work. He said that education is key area which needs special attention as paid by the present Government. The president also appreciated idea of the University of Sindh for setup of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto research chair in different Countries. He also appreciated efforts of the University for Setup of campuses in remote areas of the province to provide higher education to youth in their reach. Speaking on this occasion Vice Chancellor University of Sindh Professor Dr.Nazir A.Mughal said that University aims to establish Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Chair in various Countries in keeping in view the philosophical aim of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto for the future generation of Pakistan and most of developing nations and added that University of Sindh intends to expand the message to all progressive Islamic Countries like Morocco, Egypt, Jordon, Malaysia and Central Asian Countries and set the Benazir Bhutto Research Chair there. He said that the objectives of set up of Chair in different Muslim Countries mainly is to disseminate the progressive thought, works and political struggle of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto for women of the world. The Vice Chancellor of the University announced the establishment of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Foundation and said that this foundation would be a directly support organization, to promote, encourage and provide assistance to the research activities of the University faculty, staff and students. He said that this non profit organization will provide a venue by which discoveries, inventions, process and work products of the Chair and of the University of Sindh along with the research contribution of the Chair, can be created and transferred from the campus to the city to the nation and to the world. In addition, research foundation will support women and other students financially to enroll for M.Phil and Ph.D programs as well as to provide financial support to promising poor girls and women to enroll for research studies Dr.Mughal said. The Vice Chancellor while announcing donation of Rs.100, 000 from his own pocket for the foundation appealed to the gathering to come forward for donation to the foundation. He further announced that a proposal would also be moved and will be placed before the Syndicate of the University for allocation of at least Rs. one million from self finance program , generated purely from students contributions. The Vice Chancellor on this occasion requested the president for allocation of special fund of Rs. 300 million for repair of roads of the University, setup of Shaheed Benzair Bhutto chairs at different Countries and construction of a residence for visiting scholars who will visit the research chair for their research work.
The Vice Chancellor expressed thanks to President who accepted invitation to perform foundation stone laying of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Convention Center and inauguration of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Chair and said that a humble token of tribute and homage paid by University academia to the daughter of the east Shaheed Benazir Bhutto. The Vice Chancellor also lauded efforts of the present government for establishment of campuses and Universities in different parts of the Country and added that this University has become grand mother of various institutes. He said that this honour has been earned by this University because of implementation of 1972 education policy announced by Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. He said that when ever the Peoples Party has come in to power it has always given priority to the education and recent steps taken by Peoples Party Government for the establishment of Mirpurkhas, Dadu and Badin Campuses, Engineering College at Larkana and Khairpur, and up gradation of Chandika Medical College to the level of University are landmark achievements in the field of education which will not only fulfill dream of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto for providing higher education at door step of less privileged masses of Sindh but these steps will no doubt, go a long way in spreading the light of education in the region in coming time.

Friday, July 23rd, 2010The Controller of Examinations University of Sindh has notified the result of B.A Pass Part-II of external candidates under annual examination 2009 here on Wednesday.
Total 1590 candidates appeared in the examination while 1027 candidates have been declared pass in all subjects. Out of 1027 candidates, 36 candidates secured first class, 844 candidates secured second class and 147 candidates passed examination in third class. The University has withheld result of 319 candidates while 244 candidates declared fail in different subjects.
