The University of Sindh has taken over formal possession of 56 acres land for construction of Sindh University Laar Campus at Badin at Thatta Badin Road on Wednesday. The land possession was taken over after site inspection by Vice Chancellor University of Sindh Prof.Dr.Nazir A.Mughal along with Deans of the Faculties, Registrar and other officials of the University and Revenue Department.
The Pro Vice Chancellor Sindh University Campus at Mirpurkhas Dr.Iqbal Ahmed Panhwar, Dean Faculty of Commerce and Business Administration and member Syndicate Dr.Anwar Ali Shah, Advisor Engineering Dr.Abdul Ahad Abro, Registrar Mr. Muhammad Hussain Shaikh, Project Director Ahmed Ali Abassi, Director Estate Muhammad Usman Mangi, Principal Sindh University Laar College Badin Muhammad Hayat Keerio, DO Revenue Badin Fayyaz Hussain Abasi and other officials of Sindh University and Revenue Department were also accompanied to the Vice Chancellor. In a briefing to Vice Chancellor it was informed that all basic facilities including electricity line, Gas line and drinking water facilities are in reach and would help to the campus. The Vice Chancellor on this occasion expressed thanks to revenue department for their help in allocation of proper government land for a great purpose of higher education and advised them to help in providing more land for the campus. He said that University aims to provide education to people of remote areas at their doorsteps that they could be able to participate in development of the Country.
The Vice Chancellor also visited Laar College Badin and inspected on-going classes, computer laboratories, library, teachers hostel and other parts of the College. The Vice Chancellor hold a meeting with the faculty members and students of the Laar College Badin and inquired their problems. The Vice Chancellor in the light of presentations of teachers and students approved 4-point buses for pick and drop facility for students and a costar bus for  teaching staff there. He also approved picnic for students and directed Project Director to provide buses to students for their academic picnic programs. The Vice Chancellor on this occasion announced that on need basis and in light of report of Principal number of teachers will be increased and books for library will be made available. The Vice Chancellor also approved newspapers and journals for the library of laar college Badin and promised that an a official will be nominated to promote sports activities among students at the campus. He said that after construction of buildings of campus the existing building would be declared as City Campus and evening programs in different disciplines would be launched. On this occasion the Vice Chancellor directed the engineering wing to prepare a PC-I immediately for sending to Government of Sindh for funding of the building.

University of Sindh, shall observe following timings with immediate effect until July 31, 2010.

1.  Administration:
      All working days (including Friday)        From 07:30 a.m. to 04:15 p.m

2. Teaching Departments:
      All working days (including Friday)      From 08:00 a.m. to 04:00 p.m

I)  Lunch Break would be from 01.00 p.m. to 01.30 p.m excluding Friday.
II) On Friday lunch and prayer break would be from 01.30 p.m. to 02.30 p.m.

174th Syndicate Meeting

The 174th meeting of the Syndicate of University of Sindh was convened here on Saturday. The Vice Chancellor University of Sindh Prof.Dr.Nazir A. Mughal presided over the meeting. The meeting has approved recommendations of Selection Board regarding appointment of teachers in different institutes and departments of the University. The meeting also discussed academic and research matters   and academic
programs in the University. The meeting examined matter regarding purchase of land for Sindh University Campus at Mirpurkhas. The syndicate meeting has emphasized the need of proper soil testing of selected land as well as availability of basic facilities i.e. drinking water, ground water  and electricity in reach of land to be selected for construction of buildings of the Campus.

The Controller of Examinations University of Sindh has announced schedule of examination of affiliated degree colleges and private institutes.

The Controller of Examinations University of Sindh has announced on Tuesday that semester examination of affiliated degree colleges and private institutes for various disciplines i.e. BCS, BCIT, BBA and MBA will be conducted with effect from April, 27.

8th meeting of Vice Chancellor Executive Council of the University of Sindh.

The Vice Chancellor Executive Council University of Sindh has decided that University will remain open for 5-day from Monday to Friday from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm in a week while two day holiday i.e. Saturday and Sunday from next semester  and to start regular trainings of administrative  staff of the University.
The decision in this regard was taken in 8th meeting of Vice Chancellor Executive Council of the University held here on Tuesday. The meeting which was presided over by Vice Chancellor University of Sindh Prof. Dr.Nazir A.Mughal has also decided that in future opening of new departments or its up gradation would be linked with feasibility reports and proper planning as well as reports by the experts of disciplines area. The meeting while reviewing security arrangements at the campus the council constituted a committee headed  by Advisor Engineering wing Dr.Abdul Ahad Abro,  Director Students Affairs Prof.Bashir Ahmed Channer, Provost Boys Hostels Dr.Ghulam Sarwar Gachal and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Siddiqu Kalhoro as its members  committee for  reviewing security arrangements and its suggestions for security measures at the campus. The meeting also discussed a letter received from President Sindh University Teachers Association (SUTA) who opposed appointment of retired Professors and Officers in the University, the Vice Chancellor informed the meeting that only on dire need basis and experts in related area has been considered for re-employment in the University. He pointed out that those scholars who win the noble prizes in different fields in the world are also above age of 60 years.  A three members economic committee headed by Prof.Dr.Anwar Ali Shah, Prof.Dr.Murad Khatoon, Mr.Khalid Noor Panhwar, Syed Abdul Ghaffar Shah and Mr.Bashir Ahmed Shaikh as its members and Director Finance Mr.Mushtaq Memon as its secretary presented a report for economic drive in the University. The meeting has nominated Prof.Dr.Qamar Jahan Mirza to supervise workshops conducted by the institutes and departments of the University. The Faculty of Commerce and Business Administration University of Sindh organized a speech declamation on life and works of Allama I.I.Kazi to  homage to him in connection with founder’s week celebrations at IBA Jamshoro.
More than 40 male and female students took part in declamation and expressed their view about life and works of Allama I.I.Kazi. On this occasion Dean Faculty of Commerce and Business Administration Dr. Anwar Ali Shah distributed cash prizes among the winner students. First cash prize of Rs.3500/ was awarded to Waqar Ahmed Kalwar of IBA, second cash prize of Rs.3000/- was awarded to Miss Sabreena Shah of Institute of English Language and Literature  while 3rd cash prize of Rs.2500 was given to Zulfiqar Ali Chandio of Institute of Commerce. Four special cash Prizes of Rs.1000/- each were awarded to Miss Marui Samoo of IBA, Miss Shazia of Education, and Miss Mahreen of IBA Miss Rabia Khokhar from faculty of Education. Special cash prize of Rs.1000/- was given to Hassam Saeed for Naat.

Ahmed Panhwar while presiding over a seminar on Youth Entrepreneurship how to start a small business leadership and Time Management said that small and medium size business can to boost up economy of the Country. The seminar was organized by the Institute of Commerce University of Sindh in collaboration with Junior Chamber International (JCI) at Faculty of Arts on Thursday.
Dr.Panhwar while appreciating seminar for awareness of youth said that
there is need that Government should facilitates with loans for small
business to graduates. He said that with small loans and initiating of own business by youth the unemployment can be reduced and a culture for business ownership among youth on sound ground could be promoted.
He appreciated efforts of JCI for conducting training of young students in
field of business and hoped that trainings would play motivating role among youth. The Dean Faculty of Commerce and Business Administration Dr.Anwar Ali Shah speaking on this occasion said that entrepreneurship is important and also leadership and time management too in business area.
He said that lack of resources youth is unable to utilize their ability and skills for starting a new business. He said that University is providing facility of internship in various commercial banks and national and multination companies every year and added that they are getting proper training of process of business as well as administrative assignments during internships
President JCI City Nadeem Soomro speaking on this occasion said that JCI,
Pakistan is a regional member of JCI and is also a locally registered youth organization which has been promoting leadership training through numerous working projects for last three years. He said that JCI members are 18 to 40 years old leaders, professionals and entrepreneurs and added that we meet in projects, meetings where we learn and grow. He said that JCI create better leaders for better societies and organize projects in the areas of Business, Individual, community and International Relation.
Director of the Institute of Commerce Dr. Noor Muhammad Jamali said that
entrepreneur is an economic agent who plays a vital role in the economic
development of a country like Pakistan. He said that growth mainly depends on the abilities and potentialities of the entrepreneurs and added that an entrepreneur is an individual with knowledge, skills, initiative, drive and sprit of innovation who aims at achieving predetermined goals. He said that Institute of Commerce is one of most crowded institute and 800 students are on roll in morning and evening shift.

Dr. Fouzia Saeed an educationist has said that morality in society is essential and man and woman are equally responsible to develop morality in the society. She was delivering a talk in perspective of her research book under title TABOO at the Institute of Women Development Studies University of Sindh. The occasion was presided over by Pro Vice Chancellor Dr.Rafia Ahmed Shaikh while a large number scholars, faculty members and students were present on the occasion. Dr.Fouzia Saeed said that woman is more victimized even that male was provided safer corner by community. She said that   in many parts of our country when a male was seen talking to a woman her parents declared to her Kari but man always freed from all allegations. She highlighted different aspects of women in working places, houses and struggle for its survival and said that women is playing vital role in social, economic development. She said that woman must strive hard for its rights and it is her own life to think about it and decided what is better for her life.
She said that there is lot of beauty for woman in the society but the male dominant society disallowed them to look in out. Dr. Fouzia said her book is result of 12 years hard work which spent on research and compilation of book. She said that we always blaming woman for every bad thing but we do not blamed man for his unhealthy activities. Dr.Fouzia said that we are living in modern world but we still  follow out dated traditions and added that society has bound women to live life boundaries of such traditions even she likes or not. She said that woman is equal partner in society development but her contribution in society development was not recognized.
The Pro Vice Chancellor Dr.Rafia Ahmed Shaikh appreciated talk delivered by Dr.Fouzia Saeed and said that women and men are equally responsible to develop morality in the society. The Director Institute of Women Development Studies  Dr.Misbah Bibi Qureshi speaking on this occasion highlighted academic and research activities of the institute.

The Vice Chancellor University of Sindh Prof.Dr.Nazir A.Mughal has underlined need of research on important areas and said that research oriented societies are generally stable which solve their economic and social problems and helps in upgrading of their community. He was presiding over final Ph.D seminar of research scholar Mr. Rasool Bux Mangi Assistant Professor of Government Degree College Ranipur under the Faculty of Education Hyderabad on Wednesday.
The Vice Chancellor said research for future and civilization play important role and added that research must aim to benefit the present as well as coming generations from researcher’s piece of work. He said that it is necessary that scholars should evaluate their research work from sociological point of view. The Vice Chancellor said scholar who is engaged in research on any problem no doubt is authority on that subject but adoption of research procedures to meet international standards is essential. He said that research carried by scholars must be beneficial to society therefore scholars should have to emphasis on those problems which deeply linked a common men in daily life and also for future. The Vice Chancellor commenting researcher’s work pointed-out that major portion of thesis of research produced by Prof. Mangi mainly depends on data and added that a lay man will not be able to understand the problem in light of heavy data. Vice Chancellor suggested the scholars that at the time of compilation of thesis they highlight the problem in introduction chapter and enrich concluding chapter of thesis that a reader by viewing both chapters can understand get benefit from research work immediately. He said that school education is important area but it was surprising that bibliography shows that books referred by scholar are more than 20 years old.
He said that we are living in digitalized world and information highway and all information on required topics can be easily available on the internet.
The Vice Chancellor highlighting research patrons in developed countries said that if we turn pages of the history we see that our elders have worked lot for future generations. The Vice Chancellor while appreciating hard work of scholar advised him to re-set his thesis in light of suggestions for presentation in another seminar. The Dean Faculty of Education Dr.Parveen Munshi welcoming Dr.Mughal at Faculty of Education congratulated for his appointment as Vice Chancellor for second time and said that Dr.Mughal during his first tenure introduced many academic reforms aims to promote academic excellence in the University. She said that Dr.Mughal introduced M.Phil through research, one window admission, academic linkages with other institutes, and visits of foreign delegates as well as semester system in the University. She expresses hope that during his Vice Chancellorship the University would also achieve high glories in the academic excellence.
