Pro VC, University of Sindh addressing in seminar on Kashmir Day organized by Social Sciences

The Faculty of Social Sciences University of Sindh has organized a seminar in connection with Kashmir Day on Thursday. The seminar was arranged at the auditorium of the department of Political Science at Faculty of Arts building and largely attended by the scholars and students from various institutes and departments. Pro Vice Chancellor of the University Prof. Dr. Rafia Ahmed Shaikh presided over the seminar while Dr. Praveen Shah, Dr. Abdul Latif Tunio, Dr. Muhammad Yakoob Mughal, Parvez Ali Mahesar, Irfan Ahmed Shaikh and Dr. Naghma Magrio expressing their views paid tribute to people of Kashmir on their sacrifices.

Dr. Parveen Shah speaking on the occasion said that Kashmir is one of the critical disputes in the world today. She said that Kashmir dispute is a very complex, ethnic, territorial dispute and dispute over human rights and above all it is a dispute about the rights of the Kashmir People. Dr. Shah said that Kashmir dispute underlines the continuing trust-deficit between Pakistan and India resulting in the absence of a lasting peace. She said that in the wake of the nuclearisation of South Asia, the international Community has refocused attention on the dispute and added that since the resumption of dialogue between Pakistan and India, the dynamics between the two countries have also altered in a positive and qualitative manner.

 Dr. Muhammad Yakoob Mughal in his paper on The Khasmir Dispute: A case study of Pakistan, said that the history of Kahsmir is traceable as far as back as 4000 year B.C and added that the state of Kashmir was ruled by the Muslim Sultans for 479 year including 279 years of independence.
