NBP STUDENT LOAN SCHEME

National Bank of Pakistan has invited applications from eligible students for grant of loans. Application form may be downloaded here and also at the designated branches of NBP. All the interested students are required to fill up the application form and submit to UoS for verification on well before the last date which is February 27, 2010. The same form will be returned to the student after necessary attestations for onward submission to NBP designated branches by the students. Students are advised to read the instructions carefully given with the application form and attach all the documents as required by the bank. University of Sindh has to certify only that he/she is a bonafied student at this university while the application will be processed by the bank to decide whether or not a loan is to be granted.

FACILITY OF INTEREST-FREE LOAN TO THE STUDENTS OF PUBLIC SECTOR UNIVERSITIES AND INSTITUTES

The State Bank of Pakistan had launched an interest-free loan scheme for students of public sector Universities, Institutes Colleges in February, 2001. The objective of scheme was to provide financial assistance to the meritorious students who obtain at least 70 % marks in the last examination and are unable to pursue their studies within Pakistan due to financial constraints. Such loans are available to students for tuition fee, purchase of text books/ reference books and boarding expenses.

The National Bank of Pakistan has devised a procedure for inviting applications from students and its processing for the grant of loans. The same is available in their designated branches in all major cities along with prescribed application form.

In its earlier notification of the National Bank of Pakistan, some Universities established in the public sector were not listed in this scheme. The case was taken up by the HEC with the Sate Bank and followed up vigorously. It has now been decided by the State Bank to include all public sector Universities and Institutions recognized by HEC for the facility of interest-free loan for the students

The Vice Chancellor University of Sindh Prof. Dr. Nazir A Mughal has said
that students are more important to him and urged upon the students,
faculty and administration to work collectively to achieve targets in the
area higher education in the University.
He was addressing new comer students of the University on Thursday at
Lawns of Faculty of Arts building on occasion of commencement of new
academic session 2010.
The Pro Vice Chancellors, Deans of the Faculties, Directors and
Chairpersons of Centers, Institutes and departments and large number
students were present on the occasion.
Welcoming new comer students, new Vice Chancellor of the University said
that time is more precious and responsibility of  students is to
concentrate on their education for attaining  targets of the life.
He said that youth is future and he is also great believer that youth are
real leaders of the Country.
Hoping cooperation from the teachers and students,  Dr. Mughal said that
Unity is key for achievements  and added that education is  also  teaches
to achieve goals with unity.
He said that regular teaching, proper training and co curricular
activities at the campus will be essential part of the educational
environment in the University and all required facilities will be provided
to students for study and to scholars for their research work.
The Vice Chancellor said that he believes that now youth is more mature,
they are well aware of new development took place at global level through
computer and internet and they are  understanding  the realties of the
life.
He said that proper facilities would help the University education system
and he would be in front to provide the same without any delay.
He said that respect to students by teachers and respect to teachers by
students  is responsibility is essential.
To provide peaceful environment at the campus will require cooperation and
help of every one Dr. Mughal said and added that lets work together to
raise image of the University.
Dr. Mughal invited the students and teachers to work with him hand to hand
and added that youth must understand that only education is their bright
future.
He said that he has served the Universities in USA and always he was
thinking how to serve the University of Sindh, people of province of Sindh
and Country.
He said that during stay in USA he was authorized to select the students
for higher education abroad and added that he had selected 1200 students
on merit from Pakistan for awarding of scholarships.
He said that he born in Hyderabad, got early education from Hyderabad and
before proceeding for higher education from USA he graduated from the
University of Sindh.
He said that he has good memories of the University in his mind where he
get education and also served as Teacher.
The Vice Chancellor said that he will strive hard to develop the
University   for becoming it as best University among Universities of
Asia.
He also advised the Teachers to actively participate in research and
produce and generate new knowledge by producing research on key issues.
He advised the University teachers to prepare for the doctorate and post
doctorate and get benefit from the available conducive educational
environment.
The Director Bureau of STAGS Prof. Ahmed Ali Brohi on this occasion
highlighted activities organized by STAGS.
He said that STAGS is engaged to provide guidance and counseling to the
students.
To organize debate declamation and speech competitions are regular
features of the STAGS Mr. Said.

This is for information of all concerned candidates who are appearing B.A. (Pass) part-I and part-II viva-voce Annual Examination of 2009 that the venue of Group “E” and “F” is changed from Sindh Development Study Center to New Examination Wing Sayyed Ghulam Mustafa Shah Administration Building (AC-2), University of Sindh, Jamshoro.

Note: Timing and Dates will remain same as already notified.

Student Loan Scheme (SLS) to the eligible but deserving students of Graduation, Post Graduation and PhDs. In order to grant loans to eligible students , last date of submission of application to the designated branches is fixed on 27th February 2010.
